Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because there are lots of references (the FRench article has French and British references) about this upcoming album (not only the title, but the producer, where and when it was recorded, where and when it was written, themes of the songs, etc). --Deansfa (talk) 00:29, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The sources are based on speculation. The album will likely be announced soon and might even be named Drones, but until then, everything is speculation. Popcornduff (talk) 11:03, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. All speculation so far. Coltsfan (talk) 14:13, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, but this page could be used to give informations about the history of the album and maybe the themes of the songs. I think the article should not be deleted, but if you insist on the non-reliable aspect of the sources, it could simply be renamed to "Seventh Muse Album" or something like that while saying in the introduction that there has been speculation on the title for the future album. CuriositySphere (talk) 15:03, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote something similar at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Drones (Muse album). I think it could be moved to "Muse's seventh studio album", and we could keep on working on the album themes, recording etc. (under that article title) until the album title is official. Mayast (talk) 15:46, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Muse bassist Christopher Wolstenholme's official Twitter says "New album Drones coming soon." Sure, Twitter shouldn't be used as an article source, but as his account is verified, I would consider that a confirmation from the band. – Mayast (talk) 20:17, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Articles from Kerrang (http://www.kerrang.com/28057/muse-confirm-seventh-album-drones/) and NME (http://www.nme.com/news/muse/82688) both reporting the album title as 'confirmed'... 62.49.6.188 (talk) 18:19, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Promotional singles removal

[edit]

Please do not add "Psycho" and/or "Reapers" into the singles list, they are merely promotional. The latter I'm not sure even is one at all. Promotional singles do not go in the singles list, I say that from personal experience. DannyMusicEditor (talk) 19:27, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete "Critics" section?

[edit]

The "Critics" section should be deleted. It sounds like a mixture of private opinion and speculation, there are no references. And grammar-wise it is written very challenging. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Statistenfreund007 (talkcontribs) 08:21, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Which section are you talking about? The reception section? I don't see a "Critics" section. Popcornduff (talk) 12:44, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and cleaned it up a bit. RHedmi (talk) 01:49, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Time Out review

[edit]

Should the review from Time Out be in the article? It seems to be a bit controversial (as in, people keep removing it). I personally don't really agree with removing it, but I also don't really want to get into any edit wars over this, so I thought maybe it would be good to come to some conclusion on this talk page. Kinetic37 (talk) 19:56, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The IP has removed the review for the following reason, as stated in the edit summary: "A music review should mention the music on the album. The Time Out review doesn't and shouldn't be included. Time Out also is not an established reviwer in the way AllMusic, NME, Pitchfork et al are. For these reasons, it shouldn't be included in this."
First, it's wrong - the album does talk specifically about the music and not the themes in one part of the review, where it complains about the lack of Plug in Baby-style "slash and burn" riffs. Second, it's incredibly naive and small-minded to say a music review shouldn't focus on an album's themes and lyrics, as if those aren't part of the music. Third, the first two points are irrelevant anyway because it's not up to Wikipedia editors what constitutes a "good" music review. Fourth, Time Out is in fact a very well-established arts reviewer and the IP needs to get their facts right.
The review absolutely belongs in the article and the IP wouldn't have any of these "objections" had it been a positive review. Popcornduff (talk) 20:13, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Genre

[edit]

I'd say this is Glam rock as well, not sure if it's a large enough warrant to change, but by the current genres you'dbe able to assume it's OoS or something. ZordonFreeman (talk) 20:06, 7 September 2015 (UTC) ZordonFreeman[reply]

Wikipedia goes by WP:Reliable sources rather than individual editor opinions. Do you have a decent-quality published source that supports your stance? Binksternet (talk) 03:26, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

NME calls it a Glam rock album but I dunno if NME is considered by Wikipedia http://www.nme.com/reviews/muse/16092 ZordonFreeman (talk) 17:36, 8 September 2015 (UTC)ZordonFreeman[reply]

NME is considered reliable. The source in your link says that one song is glam rock: "Psycho". It also says that the song "Reapers" is hair metal, which is the same as saying glam metal. But it does not say that the overall genre of the album is glam rock. Binksternet (talk) 19:43, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
