Why two names?
[edit]Is this man's name Eduard of Edmond? Clarification needed. 12.180.133.18 (talk) 13:27, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- From what I know it is Edmond, but I am not sure why some sources mention him as Eduard, possibly a mistake. FkpCascais (talk) 13:48, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- here are some sources: Edmond Abazi at National-Football-teams.com, Eduard Abazi at EU-football.info, Edmond Abazi at footballdatabase.eu, Edmond Abazi at Transfermarkt.co.uk, Edmond Abazi and Edmond Abazi at RSSSF, Eduard Abazi at Soccerway, Eduard Abazi at footballzz.com. I will bring more that I find. I think it is possible that once he came to England that he became known as Eduard, but it is just a guess of mine by now. It would also be good if we could find Albanian sources which could certainly confirm better the real name of the player. FkpCascais (talk) 13:57, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- Perhaps User:Eni.Sukthi.Durres could help us? FkpCascais (talk) 14:35, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- He was naturalized as a Portuguese citizen in 2007, with his name given as Eduard Abazaj: https://diariodarepublica.pt/dr/detalhe/aviso/15255-2007-3046739. He has also given an interview fairly recently to Portuguese media (he still lives in Portugal as far as I know), where he is cited also as Eduard Abazaj: https://www.record.pt/internacional/competicoes-de-selecoes/europeu/euro-2024/detalhe/eduard-abazaj-sao-os-agentes-que-escolhem-os-jogadores-para-representarem-a-albania. @FkpCascais: @12.180.133.18: Our home media talks for him in to the name "Eduard" (see here: "Ish-sulmuesi i Dinamos dhe Kombëtares Shqiptarë, Eduard Abazi....." english: "Eduard Abazi, former striker of KS Dinamo Tiranë and the Albania national football team...."). And instead for the name Edmond it doesn't says nothing about a former footballer but different results, see here. Thank you. Eni.Sukthi.Durres (talk) 20:32, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- So it should stay Eduard Abazi? Are you sure that there wasn't another player named Edmond? FkpCascais (talk) 20:35, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- I would also say his name is Eduard Abazi. That's him: https://www.transfermarkt.com/eduard-abazi/profil/spieler/221662. To my knowledge, there is no Albanian player who goes by the name Edmond Abazi. – Squatrazustradin (talk) 21:07, 6 June 2020 (UTC) Squatrazustradin
