[edit]Is egg salad worthy of an article at all? Jules1975 17:49, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
I don't think I've ever seen a funnier phrase than "is egg salad worthy of an article?" Ah, wikipedia.
...
I think that the article should clarify that in its simplest form, egg salad is simply chopped hard-boiled egg and mayonnaise.
Egg salad is not commonly made from scrambled eggs.

How long does egg salad stay good for if kept in the fridge ?
[edit]How long does egg salad stay good for if kept in the fridge ?
- It depends on method of preparation, cleanliness and refrigerator temperature. 2-3 days would be average, though I'd avoid 3-day egg salad. Sings-With-Spirits (talk) 21:16, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
Disconnect between description and similar items
[edit]If egg salad is part of a tradition of high-protein, low-carb foods mixed with other stuff, how is potato salad a related item? I think the protein/carb part needs to go, as I don't see how it is relevant, while potato salad is definitely a related food. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.166.212.240 (talk) 02:09, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Removed Phrase
[edit]This sentence/reference was only about eggs not about egg salad so I removed it. Maybe somebody can find it a better home in another article and then mark it as dealt with here?
- The egg is hugely symbolic in christian cultures, particularly Catholicism. [1]

"Until the 1980s this dish was also called "Jewish eggs".
[edit]And then what happenned? (It sounds as though the last person to use this expression died, G-d forbid.) Drsruli (talk) 20:03, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
Eier tsibeles (Jewish Eggs)
[edit]Not served Friday night dinner, but rather you are describing common menu for Saturday lunch. (Because of course, first course Friday night is gefilte fish.) The whole point of chopped eggs and onions is that is really a substitute for scrambled eggs with onions, which is impractical to serve on Saturday lunch. Therefore, a kind of substitute was devised using chopped eggs, which can easily be prepared before Shabbps to no ill effect. (And on holiday lunch, when cooking is permitted, then scrambled eggs with onions is indeed served with lunch.) Drsruli (talk) 20:09, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
