If you compare the Elliot Handler entry with Ruth Handler, you can see why Elliot has been nominated for merge/deletion:
Ruth Handler entry notes her contributions to Mattel, esp. her help creating and launching Barbie doll. Entry on Elliot Handler is no more informative than info already found in Mattel entry.
Elliot Handler entry is only nominally about its subject — it veers into discussions of Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Herman Munster, Mr. Ed et al. without discussing Mr. Handler's relationship (if any) to these things/people.
This article was created by someone whose edits I tagged for conflict of interest after learning:
it was the same person who wrote the book Chatty Cathy and Her Talking Friends and kept inserting the website address of the book's publisher in entries above — even the page created (ostensibly) about Elliot Handler.
Big cleanup done. Couple tags removed. The page was a dog pile of misspellings, grammar errors, inappropriate links, advertising and product promotion and fan praise. It was and still is an example of what people are talking about when they denounce Wikipedia, and it appears to them that there is absolutely no monitoring or upkeep of articles published, other than the placement of cleanup tags that reinforce the fact that article is of poor quality.Mike P(WHAT?)17:09, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
How is it cleaning up when you delete the reference that supports the main claim to notability in the article? What's your agenda here? If you really want to clean this up then add sources to support the statements in the article which are readily available from Google Books and News searches rather than deface it with tags. This is why-I took the time to download the book and read some of it. Did you? It is about managing multinational corporations in regard to subsidies. Absolutely nothing in the book which would reference the article. That's why. Happy now that you reverted a good edit by a dedicated wikilover? Mike P(WHAT?)01:24, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
