About the Regional Emergency Government Headquarters (REGHQs), it says there were six but there are more than six bases listed..? Dan Carkner 20:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One of the guides in Carp said that the Alberta bunker hadn't been destroyed, just the entrance collapsed. Someone might have to find this. Henry Troup (talk) 06:16, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What dumbasses would get rid of these bunkers? Just becuse the USSR disbanded, doesn't mean there isn't going to be more nukes, let's not forget conventional bombs.

The bunkers were disposed of because their age and size made them prohibitively expensive to operate and maintain. The NORAD Underground Complex at 22 Wing/CFB North Bay was the nucleus for the air defence of the country and worked in concert with the United States for the defence of the North American continent for 43 years, starting in 1963. By the 21st Century the shopping centre-size Underground Complex, albeit more elaborate than the "Diefenbunkers" and deeper underground, faced the same problem; in 2006 air defence operations were moved into a new installation at North Bay, above ground. The Underground Complex is currently in 'warm storage' -- utilities maintained to keep the facility from eroding, until its disposal can be determined. 22WHERO (talk) 18:56, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
