Since Tatis' claim to fame is as the only player is MLB history to have 2 grand slams in one inning, should that not be included in the lede? I realize it is mentioned (in passing, disappointingly) in the text, but WP:LEDE states that the the lede should act "as a summary of the important aspects of the subject of the article" and it "should be able to stand alone as a concise overview of the article". I don't think such information is traditionally put in the lead. It's his most notable accomplishment, sure, but he's been in the majors a number of years. Other not so notable major leaguers have had rare accomplishments, but they tend to not be put in the lead. That's what the rest of the article is for. Enigmamsg07:15, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Joe DiMaggio's lede states "He is perhaps best known for his 56-game hitting streak", Don Larsen's lede states "Larsen is best known for pitching a perfect game in the 1956 World Series", Jim Abbott's lede states "Abbott is best known for playing despite having been born without a right hand". My point is, the lede, if used alone, should convey the athlete's notable feats in a nutshell. Anyone reading the lede about Fernando Tatis should walk away with a minimum info on his accomplishments, Tatis is known for the 2 GS in one inning, so this should be synopsized in the lede, no? --64.85.222.193 (talk) 07:29, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Parts of this article were still written as if Tatis were an active Major Leaguebaseball player. Not so! His baseball career firmly ended at the end of the season in 2010. This is 2012, and he isn't back. He is gone for good.
Other parts of the article do say, "last Major League game", and so forth. Why not nail it down correctly? 98.81.14.72 (talk) 14:24, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
