Twenty20 English Premier LeagueP20 — It's the new name of the competition so the current title is inaccurate, this article is more likely than a Latvian road to be the P20 people are searching for. — Jpeeling (talk) 18:40, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Twenty20 Cup article should be merged with this one[edit]

I really don't see why there are separate articles for each competition. I can understand the logic as the English domestic T20 competition was relaunched with the introduction of the FLT20, but as the intended changes were hugely scaled down the end result was a competition very similar to the previous one, and is in fact now identical to the previous iteration, except in its branding. The change is significantly smaller than the transition from European Cup to Champions League for example (or UEFA Cup to Europa League, or the incarnations of the Anglo-Welsh cup), yet sensibly those articles have been retained as one combined piece.

I would suggest keeping Friends Life T20 as the name of the merged article, but identify it as 'previously called the Twenty20 Cup' in the introduction, and have the relevant redirects. There could be a 'Relaunch' section to explain the rebranding. As the years go by it will seem increasingly odd to have a separate page for such a short-lived competition when it is identical to the one that replaced it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Esnifador (talkcontribs) 11:30, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. mgSH 22:08, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I also agree. The 2014 competition is now sponsored by NatWest and called the T20Blast. Are we going to have a new article each time the sponsor changes? Other sporting competitons have one main article despite changes of sponsorship, surely this should apply to the T20 competition. Andrew of Ware (talk) 08:09, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've proposed a formal merger at Talk:Twenty20 Cup. Blue Square Thing (talk) 17:17, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Naming of English cricket competitions[edit]

A discussion is taking place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cricket about how English domestic cricket competitions are named - specifically whether or not sponsor's names should be used in the titles of competitions and how they might be grouped together. A formal merge proposal will follow, but anyone interested might like to start with the discussion there. Thanks. Blue Square Thing (talk) 17:37, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
