Sourcing

[edit]

As noted at WP:RSP, the community consensus on the source at issue here is that it is not considered reliable. The primary source pictured - the gravestone - does not support the claims being cited to this source, other than perhaps the year of death which can easily be cited to appropriate secondary sources. Nikkimaria (talk) 19:28, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As noted at WP:RSP "Links to Find a Grave may sometimes be included in the external links section of articles, when the site offers valuable additional content, such as images not permitted for use on Wikipedia." The photographic primary source clearly shows that the grave is indeed in O'ahu Cemetery, although not to a cursory inspection. If you are able to provide a replacement source I would welcome the attempt. Skullcinema (talk) 19:40, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
External links are not sources; in this article the link is being used as a source, which is not appropriate. The gravestone does not support the claim that it is located in a particular place - that is being supported solely by the user-generated content. Nikkimaria (talk) 19:44, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Look at the second picture on the Find a Grave website and compare it with the WP page on Oahu Cemetery, the background is identical. This gravestone is at Oahu Cemetery. Skullcinema (talk) 19:47, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Look at this policy page. That claim is still not appropriately sourced. Nikkimaria (talk) 19:49, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Which of the two uses of the citation are you proposing do not support the text? Skullcinema (talk) 15:59, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The gravestone itself supports only the year of death; the citation is otherwise not reliable to support anything. Nikkimaria (talk) 23:47, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
