Old talk[edit]

We already have an article on the younger Nikolai N., at Grand Duke Nicholas, so that content could be deleted from this article and merged with the other article. Everyking 00:49, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

If he was a field marshal, I think he's certainly notable enough to warrant his own article. We have single articles on nobles who did nothing other than be the child of someone important and marry someone important.
What confuses me is that his name is Romanized differently from that of his son; both were Николай Николаевич Романов ("Nicolai Nicolayevich Romanov" in Russian). --Saforrest 18:51, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

– Dates of birth and death are used to disambiguate them but years of birth are sufficient or alternatively we can disambiguate them with (elder) and (younger) since they were father and son and that's what some sources use to disambiguate them. My personal preference is for the latter option. Support - some use of (the elder)/(the younger). estar8806 (talk) 16:25, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. Keep as is. Most sources use years and that is the safest way. 89.14.124.197 (talk) 01:41, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
