(Rowling wins inaugural Andersen Award)

[edit]

I don't get it, I just read from the bbc website:

JK Rowling has become the first recipient of the Hans Christian Andersen Literature prize in Denmark.
The Harry Potter author was presented with the accolade at a ceremony in Andersen's home town of Odense.
The prize is for authors who write in the "tradition and spirit" of Andersen who wrote 160 fairy tales and poems.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11577895 Is it a different price? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.24.188.27 (talk) 19:19, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This international award is "not to be confused with" the Danish Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award inaugurated in 2010.
The Queen of Denmark presents this award but nothing in the meagre account suggests that it should be called a Danish award; that the article belongs in Category:Danish literary awards.
Andrew Carnegie has two new "Carnegie Medal" literary awards this year, giving him three in America alongside the venerable one in Britain. Andersen will never catch up again.

1991 Award for Writing

[edit]

I have deleted this listing because it is neither on the official list "Winners 1956-2010" nor supported by any note or evident link on that page.

IBBY information

[edit]

I have deleted this paragraph which belongs in the IBBY article if anywhere.

(quote) Beside the Andersen Awards, IBBY publishes a biennial "Honor List" of excellent new children's books, which are selected by the different national sections of IBBY, and recognize excellence in writing, illustration and translation of children's books.

Importance to child lit project

[edit]

I have recently reassessed this article as high importance to the child lit project as it is known as the nobel prize for childs lit.[1] Coolabahapple (talk) 07:18, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
