Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Heather Barnett is sufficiently important, for example, she has given a TED talk and has also formed a collective that is quite active related to her artistic interest called The Slime Mould Collective http://slimoco.ning.com/. Greg Dahlen (talk) 12:56, 25 July 2015 (UTC) I believe she is as prominent and accomplished as any artist in the Wikipedia article BioArt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioArt Greg Dahlen (talk) 13:16, 25 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Two Heather Barnetts

[edit]

Currently Heather Barnett is a murder victim and redirects to an article about a criminal. Since this article is about someone who is notable in her own right, should this article be primary for Heather Barnett with a hatnote to the article about the criminal? Robert McClenon (talk) 17:23, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would support that idea, as I suggested in the Help Desk discussion. An article should usually be primary over a redirect, or else the redirect should be converted into an article. No doubt there are cases where this isn't true, but I don't think this is one of them. DES (talk) 19:00, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have had to request a technical move at Requested Moves because the move requires deleting a redirect. I moved the existing Heather Barnett to Heather Barnett (murder victim) in order to put something in the hatnote, but then when I tried to move the artist, it said I couldn't do that because it requires the mop.
