pigeon appeared in 3000?[edit]

The first domesticated bird was the rock pigeon, appearing in Greece, Egypt and Mesopotamia around 3 000

shouldn't it be 3000 BC? --Golden.2007 (talk) 02:37, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

Clive Roots source[edit]

The Clive Roots source 'Domestication (Greenwood Guides to the Animal World)' is used several times in this article and in my view should be replaced by a better, more scholarly source or sources. The Roots book appears to be aimed at children - the series also includes 'animal parents' and 'bamboo bears', and the only academic qualification I could find for the author is that he was a zoo director.Dialectric (talk) 05:39, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Replaced all but the fish and bird. Information was probably accurate enough (considering the difficulty in dating), but the new references should be much more scholarly. AIRcorn (talk) 02:35, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
