Promotional tone

[edit]

This article is still mostly promotional. It seems impossible that there is not one critical analysis of this enterprise to be found anywhere. Additional information is needed. Traumrune (talk) 17:01, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fraud claims

[edit]

An IP added content that was a copy/paste from http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2738039/Holiday-villa-fraud-thats-hit-countless-British-families-You-arrive-dream-villa-owners-never-heard-sent-cash-chillingly-plausible-conman.html

I reverted the material as a copyright violation. The material was selectively copied over, leaving phrasing here which implied the fraud was performed by Owners Direct (a website owned by HomeAway), however, that claim is not supported by the article. The article states that the culprits are hackers that hijack the email accounts of the real owners, although it also points the finger to the police for not taking action.

I've listed the link above, as it may still be a useful resource to write a section about how hackers are tricking users of the site. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 00:06, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I made a deposit of 980 Euro for a holiday apartement but then had to cancel the reservation at an early date, when according to the contract a full refund would have to been made. But HomeAway paid the deposit out to the owner even though I had informed them of the cancellation. The owner of course sees no reason to make a refund as he's sitting legally unreachable in Kenya. So I think HomeAway was at least an accessory to fraud. Juergen, 03/10/2015 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.200.105.42 (talk) 11:56, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've made the same experience - if you're not living in the US so that you can sue them, then your money is lost. HomeAway will blame the rental owner, and the rental owner will blame HomeAway. But as a matter of fact, it's HomeAway that's charging your card, so they are holding the money in trust and should do everything to make sure you receive your refund. Well: they don't! [edit]

Can someone please upload their new logo? The one used is out of date. Found here: https://www.homeaway.com/info/media-center/Video%20and%20Images (it's at the bottom under HA Color Logo)HookEmHorns1 (talk) 19:42, 15 December 2016 (UTC)12/15/2016[reply]
