A friend of Ruth Lawrence?[edit]

If Pym graduated from Oxford in 1981, only 11 years after he was born in 1970, he was indeed a prodigy. 45ossington (talk) 10:39, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ouch! I copied 1981 from here at news.bbc.co.uk. With the benefit of your eagle eye, it looks very like a mistake for 1991, so I've changed it to that, although strictly speaking this is rather irregular. We have a respectable citation for 1981 and none for 1991, but of course there can have been no ten or eleven-year old graduates in PPE. Well spotted! Xn4 20:41, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seems as if 1981 was correct, it was the year of birth which was wrong. Xn4 01:30, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sportsman[edit]

Can someone please elaborate on the claim that is Pym is a "sportsman" as well as a journalist and author. This is not something I've heard before, perhaps some details are required? Otherwise I suggest remove it, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.131.9.226 (talk) 18:20, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. "Sportsman" claim not elaborated or sourced. Neither is "academic" for that matter – can see no evidence he's ever held a university appointment. Removed both. Qwfp (talk) 21:19, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tomfoolery[edit]

There seems to be some tomfoolery going on here. "Born 1066" and all that. Grow up, whoever you are.PDAWSON3 (talk) 13:41, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hugh Pym went to Cheltenham College not Marlborough — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.52.148.90 (talk) 20:43, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

was he the nephew of Mrs Silver, headmistress of Putney High School?[edit]

my mother, a Putney alumna claims he is, and says she can see a resemblance! Is this true and is it worthy of mention if so? 94.197.148.214 (talk) 15:29, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

to add, Mrs Silver's first name was Nancy 94.197.173.19 (talk) 18:59, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
