Korean Quote

[edit]

This seems highly out of place on the english wikipedia, unless someone is going to provide a side by side translation -- febtalk 08:29, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just did. I deleted one of the sijo, however, because I was unable to find a translation of it. I might put it back up if I can find one/translate it well myself. Kindahypertonic 12:49, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To avoid unpolished, uneasy(no tones in the translation) translation, which would spoil the essence of the poem from Jini's, I put my translation(which is in "sonnet form"). Hope it reflects her spirit better.(Leedynamo):3/11/2012.

Hwang Jini, the movie version, was not created due to the success of the drama. The movie version was announced before the drama version even appeared on television in Korea. And it isn't rumored but confirmed that Song hye kyo will be the lead in the movie version. The drama and movie focuses on different aspects of the story of Hwang Jini. There are many korean articles about it, but I haven't had a chance to find an english article.

I apologize for the error. However, please sign your comment next time so that I may know who I'm working with. Thanks. Kindahypertonic 23:50, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Her picture

[edit]

Guys, can someone iedntify if Myeong-wol's alleged picture (in the article) is the same as in this pic http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/69/Hyewon-Miindo.jpg titled "Painting of a Beauty" by Hyewon...

'coz if in my sense of judgment, they're just one and the same... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Heran et Sang'gres (talkcontribs) 07:26, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here you can see more places where the mentioned picture is used - perhaps anywhere there is more info available. Besides that similar/same? picture is used at tl:Hwang Jini, where it says in the picture description: tl:Larawan:Hwang Jini Portrait.jpg that the picture is from here: Image:Hwang Jini portrait from 1910 text book.jpg. Hope it may help ? ----Erkan Yilmaz 22:16, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, guess what, I'm going to remove that too, since the painting couldn't have survive in 2 centuries without fading away, at least; Myeong-wol lived in the 16th century, and Hyewon Shin Yoon-bok in the 18th century...
Oh, of course- how on earth could we POSSIBLY have paintings even from the 1000s? They're all probably fakes, because, you know, they HAD to have faded.../sarcasm If it's a portrait of Jini, late or not, but labeled as a portrait of her, I believe that's close enough to warrant it being used as her picture on wikipedia. --Tsukiakari (talk) 21:37, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
