He's been suspended pending an investigation for sexual misconduct involving a child. Not sure if anyone wants to edit this. https://www.wtsp.com/article/sports/nhl/lightning/lightning-defenseman-ian-cole-suspended-allegations/67-aca9eff5-0fec-48c0-af7a-8faa2594f778 --69.112.6.31 (talk) 01:44, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unsubstantiated allegations

[edit]

Hello, I'd like to ask that the sexual abuse allegations, posted anonymously on Twitter in October 2022, be removed from the "Tampa Bay Lightning" sub-section of the article, as they were deemed unfounded less than one week later following an investigation. [1][2] No other notable people were involved and press coverage was rather routine, so I believe this content falls under WP:NOTGOSSIP and WP:BALASP.

Not done: Declined on notability grounds, although the sentence in question needs an update to include the investigation's outcome. Quetstar (talk) 22:38, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Kevinmags27 and thanks for the ping. However, it would be more appropriate to discuss this with Quetstar personally. I agree with Quetstar for a couple of reasons. Just because others do it, doesn't mean we have to. Personally, when I am deciding whether to include controversial information I think about whether it will matter in a few years and/or leave blanks in the article. For example, I am always for including suspensions because it leaves a gap in games played. However, I do not like including every single fight a player engages in because it does not matter in the long run. As Cole was suspended and it thus impacted his play, I think it is important to leave in. I believe it would be detrimental actually to leave this out.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:27, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
