COMMENT

[edit]

I've made a start on Ian's discography, but sure to be missing some/many items - other contributions welcome...Tony1212 (talk) 08:15, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because: 1. Ian "is regarded as one of Australia’s great guitar players" - new sourced quote added in introductory section 2. Ian has had a substantial jazz career in Australia over a prolonged period playing with all the well-known names: Bob Barnard, George Golla, Tom Baker, Don Heaps, George Washingmachine, Janet Seidel etc., appearing on over 70 albums including at least 14 as leader/co-leader 3. Full information on the above is included in an impeccably sourced/documented Discography section, which user Toddst1‬ has unilaterally deleted for no reason (cf. most/all musician/artist pages on Wikipedia are accompanied by a relevant discography).

I have to say I completely disagree with the suggestion that this article has a lack of asserted importance, as reference to the text and to the extensive discography (now restored as of just now) demonstrates.Tony 1212 (talk) 06:13, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I've removed the discography because every entry had a misplaced WP:EL that is a WP:SPAMLINK. It's a really long discography and it's far too much work to undo all that spam, one line at a time. @Tony 1212:, if you want to restore the discography, please don't restore all those spamlinks. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 15:55, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

To me they are not spamlinks, they are the verifiable sources for the cited content, as well as supplying additional information for each item. However I have removed them since I still contend that the Discography is an integral part of any entry for a musician and I would prefer if you did not simply delete it without notice.Tony 1212 (talk) 19:36, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of "multiple issues" tags

[edit]

I believe it is appropriate to remove the "multiple issues" tags added by Toddst1 in August 2016, specifically:

- notability: The subject has released 14 albums as leader/co-leader since 1989, including 2 on Larrikin and 1 on Jarra Hill, both of them reputable indie labels, see WP "Criteria for musicians and ensembles": "Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable)."

See http://www.warrenfahey.com.au/record-producer/ for history of Larrikin/Jarra Hill records over q 25 year period with a roster of over 500 releases and a number of significant artists.

- neutrality: Of the 7 references cited, 2 are from the performer's own website, 5 are independent. I have just added a further independent one in "external links" from the "OzManouche" website.

I am happy to leave this open for comments for a week or two from posting but if there is no further objection, I will remove the tags then.Tony 1212 (talk) 06:45, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
