POV Issues[edit]

  • Article reads as though written by supporters of this group. Is uniformly laudatory. Needs to be written to be more neutral.Fagles 22:56, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

It is agreed that this piece appears to have been written almost solely by supporters of the group; it needs to be extensively rewritten to demonstrate the place of the Icarus Project in mental health society as a whole. Homer27 08:13, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While this article is does not adhere to Wikipedia's POV standards, it is worth mentioning that the problem lies with presentation, not content. I advise, for what it is worth, that any changes in this regard preserve the content given and rephrase it in a more encyclopedic fashion. Loathe as I am to admit it, even an "advertisement" can contain valuable knowledge, provided the information is presented in the proper context. Deimos1313 (talk) 22:22, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Presentation is indeed poor, and a number of users listed in the history may be members of the Icarus project. I too recommend significant updates (the project has developed tremendously since this page was started) as well as less of an "advertising/recruiting" undertone. The project has been going long enough that I don't think it will be too difficult to accomplish this however. Ileana37 (talk) 09:13, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article categorization[edit]

This article seems to have been added to a multitude of categories more to advertise it than for its relevance to those categories. This is not an article relating directly to psychosis, for example, so it should not be categorized in Psychosis and likewise for the categories Anxiety disorders, Mood disorders, and Personality disorders. I have left some of the categories for now because I am not familiar enough with them to know whether this article would belong or not (e.g., Activism).

This article most definitely relates to mood disorders as the Icarus Project was primarily set up for people with Bipolar Disorder. I don't know how to re-add a category, so perhaps someone else could do it. Pigkeeper 20:17, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If anyone editing this article happens to be a member of the Icarus Project, remember that this is a neutral encyclopedia and not a publicity tool.--NeantHumain 23:18, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article does indeed relate to psychosis, mood disorders, etc. It is a source of alternative views on these matters, and censoring it in this regard is a gross violation of Wikipedia's NPOV policy. Deimos1313 (talk) 22:22, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article certainly should remain under the Activism category, since activism on behalf of those diagnosed with several mental conditions is one of the key functions of the Icarus Project. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.45.172.65 (talk) 14:04, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I totally agree with the topic remaining under Activism...in fact it is more at home there than anywhere else. Ileana37 (talk) 08:12, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Change title of this page[edit]

The title of this page is confusing; this is only one group of several named "Project Icarus". I added some disambiguation at the beginning of this article, but I'd like to suggest that this page should be renamed The Icarus Project (mental health), and that the page "Icarus Project" should be a redirect page pointing to that page, Project Icarus (Interstellar Probe Design Study), and Project Icarus.
