Conflict of Interest?
[edit]I notice that most of the editing of this page has been done by a single account User:Alistairdavidson. As the article also appears to be overly long, especially the product line, I'm concerned that this may be a case of conflict of interest. It also makes too much use of the company web site for references, and has no major sources of references. I will give this some time, but I think it will soon be appropriate to begin adding banners to the page, and possibly moving toward a request for deletion. Please discuss here if you have better ideas. LaMona (talk) 21:52, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- Agree LaMona. I had a look at this and it comes across as almost company-written, with around half of the links I checked of company origin; but there are a few good links in there (a piece from MIT Technology Review, for example). I hacked the structure around a bit, and then did a detailed review of the now first two sections I created. Needs further work also to make the information more intelligible to the non-technical reader, I think. Paul W (talk) 17:35, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
Updates to page resulting from company changes, evolution
[edit]Thanks to all who have helped manage/edit this page to date. In full transparency I am affiliated with this company so I will not enact any changes myself, but would like to make suggestions to bring the article up to date and provide relevant/objective sources along the way. I would also like to make these suggestions incrementally rather than doing a complete overhaul all at once, as was advised via another editor. Regardless of our suggestions, we respect the desire for Wikipedia to remain objective so please take our suggestions exactly as just that-- suggestions. Our only goal is to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and help enrich Wikipedia by offering clearer explanations around important, but at times complicated, industry topics such as wavelength division multiplexing. To begin I would like to share this URL that links to revised text on the company summary, history, as well as an industry overview that helps explain how this technology fits into the larger telecom industry. We are open to any feedback but hope this meets the necessary criteria and standards to be incorporated into the overall modernization of this article. Pending the community's feedback we will share additional suggestions for further improvement/modernization of this article. Mt330404 (talk) 20:05, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- I have incorporated most of this text into the article but have mainly done so within the existing structure (not starting new sections). Paul W (talk) 07:55, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks Paul W. In this document I have some additional modernization requests involving other sections of this article. Dropbox was acting funny and not showing my embedded comments (providing links to references) which is why this is in Google Docs now, if you still don't see comments providing references you may have to download the document. We are open to any/all feedback. Thanks to Paul and the whole community for your review and assistance! Mt330404 (talk) 00:16, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- I have added some of the references into the article where I can. The long section on products remains very dense and barely intelligible (I am tempted to delete it). Personally, I am also not a big fan of long lists of company personnel (mostly non-notable, and they change frequently), so I'm leaving that well alone. Paul W (talk) 10:07, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks again Paul W, no questions on our end. Regarding your comment on the products section, here's the link to a proposed cleanup of that section from Infinera, open to all input. While we understand you aren't a big fan of long lists we wanted to clean it up and submit for your approval rather than immediately delete the whole section, though if that is your wish we can cross that bridge when we come to it. Thanks again to everyone who is reviewing and a part of this whole process. We remain open to any and all feedback you may have for us! Mt330404 (talk) 00:59, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
Hello Wikipedians- it appears there was no feedback on our last request to update the products section of this article. Linked here is a further distilled requested update, if someone could review and incorporate or provide feedback that would be most appreciated. Thanks! Mt330404 (talk) 20:03, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
