Etymology

[edit]

The paragraph on etymology is unsourced and (based on my preliminary research) "upside down." The German Wikipedia article references Ursenperig (Latin ursus, bear, + Old German perg, mountain) as the orignal parish name, first recorded in 1315. This is the version presented on Irschenberg's official website.

The etymology given first in the article appears to be a folk-etymology tying the location to local legend; I don't find any contemporary references to an "Irschotten berg" or Irish Mountain. However, its persistence in modern sources leaves me hesitant to remove it, pending further research. Wilford Nusser (talk) 22:01, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
