That's not important as long as it contains information pertaining to the topic. --GentlemanGhost 15:55, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-nude pornography

[edit]

Sure, Campbell uses women in highly "sexualized" situations, but this is by no means non nude pornography, I'm removing all references. 65.219.235.164 04:29, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh come on. You don't call this non-nude pornography?A gx7 04:45, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps pornography is in the eye of the beholder? :) In any event, our opinions don't matter. If you can find a reliable source that calls his work pornography, then you could cite it in the article. I wouldn't give this undue weight, however, as I think this is a minority opinion. --GentlemanGhost 16:00, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comicsgate involvement

[edit]

I noticed a reference to this has already been removed, and considering the wording and lack of reliable sources, I can see why. However, the fact still stands, J Scott Campbell has been criticized in the past for highly sexualised depiction of female characters, including ones that are under legal age, and is notorious for having a very thin skin when it comes to criticism of his work, even calling his critics "SJW"s at one point.

More recently, the alt-right hate movement Comicsgate attempted to astroturf support for him, after he was criticized for yet another one of his pin-ups. Campbell made a public statement disavowing comicsgate and the alt-right, and denouncing racism, misogyny, homophobia and transphobia. In response, he was attacked and harrassed by an alt-right mob. He followed this up with yet another public statement, claiming he spoke to several members of Comicsgate and found them to be reasonable people. YIKES!

I'm unaware, of any reliable sources covering this story, unfortunately. Nevertheless it might be a good idea to keep an eye out on this topic, as it might hit the threshold of notability. I would also suggest anticipation of vandalism of this article from comicsgate trolls. They do see him as a potential enemy right now. 46.97.170.112 (talk) 12:31, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
