The result of the move request was: moved to Jack the Ripper (miniseries). (non-admin closure) Calidum 18:04, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
Jack the Ripper (1988 TV series) → Jack the Ripper (1988 film) – Two-part film, not a series. 90.249.7.90 (talk) 20:49, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
- Move to Jack the Ripper (miniseries) - per WP:NCTV and majority of sources which describe it using that term. Here are some links via Gale to support this, and for any editors looking for more sources to add to the article: [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. As a sidenote, sources (especially this great NY Times one) firmly establish it as a US/British (CBS/Thames) co-production, not strictly a British (ITV) one as the article lead implies now. -- Netoholic @ 04:18, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
- A miniseries is three parts or more. 1-2 parts = film. 90.249.7.90 (talk) 10:09, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
- Move to Jack the Ripper (miniseries) per Netoholic. Sources refer to this as a series, as does the DVD cover used in the article. PC78 (talk) 11:57, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
- Could someone at least create a redirect from Jack the Ripper (1988 film)? Thanks. Obviously this is closer to being a miniseries than a regular series, but... it's a film. 90.249.7.90 (talk) 22:08, 24 March 2019 (UTC)
- Creating that redirect is a reasonable request. You're quite right that its clearly not a full "series". -- Netoholic @ 01:31, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
- Move to Jack the Ripper (miniseries) as above. I don't know what Americans call these things, but we in Britain would assume a film was a single entity, not two episodes. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:28, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- Actually, we in Britain know perfectly well that a film can be in one or two parts, and that a miniseries or serial is 3+. 90.249.104.64 (talk) 16:53, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
- Not in my experience we don't. I've never seen a two-part film. I've seen many two-part miniseries. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:38, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
