Untitled
[edit]The picture caption says Juares is "harangueing" workers. Isn't that an an unwarranted perjorative? Why not say "addressing" or "making a speech to"? 74.73.225.68 (talk) 20:14, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Pacifism?
[edit]Someone keeps inserting into the passage about his death a claim that Jean Jaurès was a pacifist (as in "…who resented Jaurès' pacifism"). He was an anti-militarist, but as far as I know he did not (for example) universally reject the use of organized force in the face of an attack. Unless someone can show me evidence to the contrary, I intend to revert this again. - Jmabel | Talk 21:03, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
haranguing?
[edit]There is a translation problem in the caption under th drawing of jaurès under a Red Flag. In French we say "haranguer" which means "to lecture". But in English "to harangue" means to lecture *in a critical or aggressive manner* (new Oxford dictionary). I'm pretty sure someone has just mis-translated from the French. But I don't know how to get at the caption to change it - so if someone culd do that it would be great.Johncmullen1960 (talk) 05:06, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Assassination?
[edit]More info on Jaures' death (and its politcal effects on the SFIO) would make the article more complete - help! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.235.3.70 (talk) 22:20, 24 September 2010 (UTC) More infor in French here - http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassinat_de_Jean_Jaur%C3%A8s —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.235.3.70 (talk) 22:23, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.
The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.
Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 17:37, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Sources for "legacy"
[edit]In the section "Political Legacy" it's stated, that Jaurés together with Caillaux planned to "... expose the President's secret deal with Russia."
Also that " Russia had covertly subsidized Poincare's election campaign ... "
Unfortunatly the article doesn't give any reference for these statements. I would be happy to be shown into the direction of such sources/evidence for both mentioned statements and preferably for the first one.
Thx in advance — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.195.39.232 (talk) 09:50, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
- I added citations for those claims a few hours ago. I suspect multiple sources can be found. But at least they appear in books by Meekin and Beatty. --Presearch (talk) 14:22, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
