Steve Bannon and The Camp of the Saints[edit]

Stephen Bannon, President Donald Trump’s chief strategist and the driving force behind the administration’s controversial ban on travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries, has a favorite metaphor he uses to describe the largest refugee crisis in human history. ...

The plot of The Camp of the Saints follows a poor Indian demagogue, named 'the turd-eater' because he literally eats shit, and the deformed, apparently psychic child who sits on his shoulders. Together, they lead an 'armada' of 800,000 impoverished Indians sailing to France. Dithering European politicians, bureaucrats and religious leaders, including a liberal pope from Latin America, debate whether to let the ships land and accept the Indians or to do the right thing — in the book’s vision — by recognizing the threat the migrants pose and killing them all.

I think there should be a mention in the Wikipedia article about the novel's apparent promotion of mass murder. And that Steve Bannon promotes this book. --Timeshifter (talk) 05:27, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Except the novel doesn't propose killing all the migrants, just imply they should have been been rejected from coming, with force if needed. The Huffington Post is a tabloid which apparently distorted the facts to have another hit-piece on Steve Bannon. Don't include. --Pudeo (talk) 02:47, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Except it isn't just the "tabloid" Huffington post but also e.g. the Southern Poverty Law Center describes Raspail's novel as a 'racist fantasy', 'revered by white supremacists'. So yes do include, it is pertinent to this man's bio that he has written a hate classic which has inspired Steve Bannon.79.78.176.9 (talk) 13:15, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Consul General of the Kingdom of Araucanía and Patagonia[edit]

I am puzzled by the claims that he held the above position, as it was an unrecognised state that has at least one claimant to the title, but no effective existence. There is a single reference cited to support the claim, but my French is rusty and the only mention of the role is in the caption of a photo. I'm not sure how reliable the source is nor am I sure if the claim was sarcastic or grandiose bragging. Does this claim have any significance orreliability?
