Shahi cabinetJeevan Bahadur Shahi cabinet – The full name of current chief minister of Karnali Province is Jeevan Bahadur Shahi. Previously, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi was the chief minister. So, Shahi cabinet is not a good title of the article. To make clear, a move is to be made. 103.10.29.120 (talk) 05:52, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I disagree with usurping the article about the cabinet of a predecessor administration to overwrite it with new information about the cabinet of its successor. The Wikipedia model is to keep the predecessor article, as with the Cabinet of Donald Trump, while creating a new article for the successor, as with the Cabinet of Joe Biden. In my opinion, this model should be followed for all inherently notable government figures and bodies. The predecessor article should be renamed to remove ambiguity, and retained. And a new article should be created for the incumbent successor. Best regards.--John Cline (talk) 10:47, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum - I have stricken my contentions per a misunderstanding and agree that the page should be moved in accordance with the original request.--John Cline (talk) 00:03, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). 2pou (talk) 17:35, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree the move request. Actually, I had added it. There is an article on preceding cabinet, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi cabinet. I ment to say, if we keep Shahi cabinet it would create confusion. So, I requested the article to be moved to Jeevan Bahadur Shahi cabinet. Actually, Shahi is very common in this province so distinct the articles, a move is mandatory.103.121.173.240 (talk) 19:38, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying this for me. I misunderstood your original request, which now makes perfect sense and I've stricken the contentions I mistakenly raised. I am going to review the guidelines governing this move request to see if I can close the discussion early and move the page in accordance with your original, clearly appropriate, request. Thank you again.--John Cline (talk) 00:03, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - To follow-up, I did review the relevant policy and there is no good provision to allow for an early close so let's make the best of this discussion, and reach the best outcome possible. The requested title is active as a redirect to this article so readers interested in finding it should not have a problem finding it while the discussion proceeds. I am wondering if there is any value in considering whether or not we should opt for a consistent naming convention for articles like this and perhaps title it like the other examples given? In other words, would Cabinet of Jeevan Bahadur Shahi ultimately be a better name for the page? Best regards.--John Cline (talk) 10:51, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Jeevan Bahadur Shahi cabinet might be better as it matches with the Provincial cabinets of Nepal category. Bada Kaji (talk • श्रीमान् गम्भीर) 13:01, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    Yes, you are correct and I agree.--John Cline (talk) 22:08, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
