Amendments to Jennie Lee: early life
[edit]Hello wikipedians
I am a fairly new editor and was hoping someone more experienced could review my changes to this section of Jennie Lee, Baroness Lee of Asheridge.
The previous version stated that her father was a miner who left the mines to run a hotel. While this is technically accurate, the sojourn was brief (the small hotel was inherited as a failing business from his mother-in-law and they were not able to keep it going) and he returned to the mines. I have omitted the hotel and added his key position as fire and safety officer, a post which carried additional responsibility and pay and was responsible for Jennie's family having a more comfortable upbringing than many of their neighbours. I feel this is more pertinent than the hotel business.
My source is her biography: Hollis, Patricia (2014). Jennie Lee: a life. 2nd edition. Oxford: Oxford University Press. ISBN|9780571320912. The previous entry did not have a reference for her father running the hotel.
I have also added her younger brother Tommy.
