Photo/tech support needed

I need someone's help. The lead off picture needs to be a still from a recent film or a more recent reference than the current pic. I can find pics but can't get them to save as JPEGS (keep saving as BMPs which Wikipedia won't accept).

Polyglot?

Why is Jennifer included in the polyglots category but there is no mention in the article of any ability to speak several languages? Can someone either verify that she is, in fact, a polyglot, or remove that category? Thanks. ---Charles 04:22, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

I think I read somewhere that she can speak English, Italian (and at least one of French or Spanish, I can't remember). I haven't searched for a reference though. Can anyone find one? Davemcarlson 00:01, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
I actually just found these bios saying that she speaks fluent Italian and French, and some Japanese (she recorded a single in Japanese, I know) [1] [2] [3], but none of these sources seems entirely credible, and they could have borrowed from one another. I would definitely have a problem with using any of those as sources for the polyglot claim. The IMDB is the closest to being notable, but very little of the information in the biographies there is sourced, and may have originated on gossip sites like Celebrity Sun. Re: mag cover

I deleted the cover I uploaded from TIME, I was pretty sure that was her, but maybe not! I've jsut replaced it in the article with an Esquire cover. Jennifer Connelly had mammaplasty reduction sometime in 1993 or 1994. It's not just her slimming down, she had breast reduction surgery. Stop deleting this, it's not vandalism. - Jasgbro

Many actresses will never PUBLICLY admit they had breast surgery, either to enlarge or reduce, so demanding proof if it hasn't been supplied by the actress in question herself is pretty much a moot point. Most people assume the surgery took place because in a 3 year period she went from this:

It's true she got VERY thin and that could have an effect, but many guys who loved her fuller figure refuse to believe the size of her breasts would shrink that dramatically because she lost weight. I've moved this image out of the infobox and back as an article thumbnail. In the article fair use is being asserted by virute of illustrating an article, or part of an article, which specifically describes the issue in question or its cover. To this end I believe that fair use is asseted, however this is not an approriate picture for the infobox, as it the info box is general to the subject. The Jennifer Connelly Pier Shot

Can someone smarter than me please confirm that Dark City, Requiem For A Dream, and House Of Sand And Fog do feature virtually the same shot of Mrs. Connelly standing on an ocean pier? If my memory serves me correctly, three different directors have, within half a decade of each other, placed this actress on an ocean pier to further their own dramatic ends, and it is quite a cinematic quirk. Does it deserve mention anywhere on Wikipedia?

Little Children

This article states that her role in Little Children was reduced from it's importance in the book. I've seen the movie and read the book and the roles are virtually the same. So I think someone should remove that line.

Personal Info

I heard in a recent interview - Inside the Actors Studio, I think - that Jennifer is an avid mountain climber, and has trekked in, among others, the Himalayas and the Andes. There is nothing in the article about the fact she attended Yale as a freshman and sophmore before transferring to Stanford her junior year. Although she did not get her degree, the fact she had 3 years of education at two of the top colleges in the country is significant. POV check: Notable roles

It's ABSURD that in this article there are some notable roles mentioned and among these there isn't the Jennifer's role in Phenomena. It is mentioned in the article just as a less important part compared to the others. And this is POV.

Gerbnacious G and the Gerbil of Destiny

Jennifer Connelly's Mother's Name

Jennifer Connelly's mother spells her name Ilene, not Eileen. I know for a fact as she and Jerry (Jennifer's dad) were the first tenants in my grandmother's house in 1968. American Roman Catholics

She is listed in this category. But is their any source that can prove this claim? The article says that one of her parents was jewish and the other one was catholic. Jennifer Connelly can follow either one or none of those religions, but not both. Since being jewish, at least in the USA, is not only a religion but also an ethnic ancestry, it makes sense to put her in the "American Jews"-category, but being catholic is strictly a religion and not about heritage. I think the listing was based off this comment by Connelly: "Ultimately I’m an Irish Catholic Jew. I’m riddled with guilt!". I kind of doubt the comment was in reference to religious faith - it was almost certainly just in reference to her background. On her appearance on Inside the Actors Studio, Connelly stated that neither of her parents practiced the religions they were born into. The implication was that she didn't, either. I'm putting the category back in since she has mentioned in other magazine articles and in interviews that she celebrated Christmas. You don't have to be super religious to still identify as Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc. I know people who don't go to Mass or church, but still call themselves Catholic. It's also good for people to not get confused by the American Jews category on it's own, implying she practices Jewish customs (cultural jew). The actress has not mentioned that, just that one parent was Jewish or half-Jewish. The problem here is that identifying someone as Jewish has nothing to do with religion or practicing Jewish customs, at least in the way the category works here, it is completely related to ethnic heritage. On the other hand, we do not include someone in a category identifying their religious status unless the article can verifiably source that the person is in fact Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc., in practice. Catholicism is not an ethnic heritage and since the article does not identify her as a member of a Catholic church, we do not include it. There's a wide difference between heritage and religion. The vast majority of America celebrates Christmas, but not specifically as a religious holiday. Wildhartlivie (talk) 06:31, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
American Catholics often self-identify in the same way ethnic groups do, regardless of level of religious practice - as you say of Jewish, "a heritage". If categories are defined based on ethnicities, Catholic should be considered for Connelly, assuming a reliable source can be found that she identifies this way, beyond the aforementioned quip. If Wikipedia is defining ethnic categories based on tracing genetic strings, then there are some serious problems that need to be discussed. Catholic does not imply any ethnic meaning. Being a Jew has strong ethnic relations. Being a Catholic does not. You can leave the Catholic church and not have any ties to it. If you are Jewish and leave Judaism, you are still considered a Jew. If you leave the Catholic Church, you are no longer Catholic (unless you calllapsed Catholic, but that's complicating the issue) It's a religious term used even by those who are only "slightly religious," "lapsed," and "believing but not actively following." Still... Despite the fact that she's probably Catholic, I'm not sure if she fits, as people in the category are strangely taken out of it quickly because it's "not a notable part of their lives" or whatever the category says (either in the Christian or Roman Catholic description of the religion category). If I remember correctly, the source given above isn't the only place she's talked about her religious/heritage, and I believe Paul Bettany mentioned her beliefs being opposed to his when being interviewed about his role as Darwin (I know, please don't laugh, he doesn't fit the part in the slightest and doesn't even fit the part of the character Priest... but I'm getting off topic). American Roman Catholics

She is listed in this category. But is their any source that can prove this claim? The article says that one of her parents was jewish and the other one was catholic. Jennifer Connelly can follow either one or none of those religions, but not both. Since being jewish, at least in the USA, is not only a religion but also an ethnic ancestry, it makes sense to put her in the "American Jews"-category, but being catholic is strictly a religion and not about heritage. I think the listing was based off this comment by Connelly: "Ultimately I’m an Irish Catholic Jew. I’m riddled with guilt!". I kind of doubt the comment was in reference to religious faith - it was almost certainly just in reference to her background. On her appearance on Inside the Actors Studio, Connelly stated that neither of her parents practiced the religions they were born into. The implication was that she didn't, either. I'm putting the category back in since she has mentioned in other magazine articles and in interviews that she celebrated Christmas. You don't have to be super religious to still identify as Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc. I know people who don't go to Mass or church, but still call themselves Catholic. It's also good for people to not get confused by the American Jews category on it's own, implying she practices Jewish customs (cultural jew). The actress has not mentioned that, just that one parent was Jewish or half-Jewish. The problem here is that identifying someone as Jewish has nothing to do with religion or practicing Jewish customs, at least in the way the category works here, it is completely related to ethnic heritage. On the other hand, we do not include someone in a category identifying their religious status unless the article can verifiably source that the person is in fact Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc., in practice. Catholicism is not an ethnic heritage and since the article does not identify her as a member of a Catholic church, we do not include it. There's a wide difference between heritage and religion. The vast majority of America celebrates Christmas, but not specifically as a religious holiday. Wildhartlivie (talk) 06:31, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
American Catholics often self-identify in the same way ethnic groups do, regardless of level of religious practice - as you say of Jewish, "a heritage". If categories are defined based on ethnicities, Catholic should be considered for Connelly, assuming a reliable source can be found that she identifies this way, beyond the aforementioned quip. If Wikipedia is defining ethnic categories based on tracing genetic strings, then there are some serious problems that need to be discussed. Music Videos Updates

Hello, The music video "Space Age Love Song" by Flock of Seagulls (1982) mentioned under Jennifer Connelly's music videos is not an official video. Someone obviously made a video using the song and clips from her 1991 movie Career Opportunities. Two people posted this same video to Youtube and both seem to have been watched much more than the official video -hence the confusion. I checked whether the song was part of the soundtrack of the movie and re-released again. The answer is negative. After I discussed it in Biographies of Living Persons last week, the year of the video has been changed from 1982 to 1989. But it should be removed.
