It's not that he can play for the Mets, but he's still under their control, albeit on the restricted list and not counting towards the 40-man roster. It's basically the same situation as his first two suspensions, except it might be forever, or until (if) he's reinstated, or until the current contract runs out and the Mets nontender him. I guess. Are we including a last appearance date? Right now there's an edit war brewing, one side says he will be able to appeal so there's not point per WP:CRYSTAL. Others, like me, are of the mind that just because he can appeal, doesn't mean he'll be successful and his permanent ban in place now and we can't ignore current facts based on what may happen. He's banned now, and as such, he's had his last appearance. If he's ever unbanned and plays another game, the article can be updated. What's written in this article is not considered permanent, unlike his ban. TrueCRaysball | #RaysUp07:48, 14 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a violation of CRYSTAL because we have sources saying he's banned from baseball, and as a rule, you cannot appear in an MLB game while banned. His ban is permanent unless a successful appeal happens, and that may or may never happen. We can't keep it out based on what ifs. Only based on what is fact now. 05:40, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
