Expatriate? - category argument[edit]

How can he be a Rwandan expatriate if he is not from there? Just because he is eligible to play for a country doesn't make that his nationality.

Are half the people that have played for Ireland Irish? No, they played for them as they weren't good enough to play for Scotland or England, and had a tenuous connection through their grandparents; or were from Northern Ireland, realised they were garbage and took out an Irish passport as they were entitled to do.

Is Deco Portuguese? No, he's Brazilian. Does he have Portuguese expat as a category? Yes, because he has been naturalised and actually lived there. Is Kevin-Prince Boateng Ghanaian? No, he's German. Does he have Ghanaian expat as a category? No, because he isn't.

If a certain admin can't understand this, then I need to explain it in this fairly condescending manner I'm afraid.

No, you have to have the nationality to represent the country at international level. He holds Rwandan nationality; he has played abroad; he is a Rwandan expatriate as far as our categories are concerned. GiantSnowman 17:44, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
