Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Joey McIntyre. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

@X4n6: You reverted reverted my edit to create the redlink Return of the Mac (TV series) with explanation "No, that's not how we do it." I've re-read WP:REDLINK and it seems to me exactly how we do it. What's the problem, in the context of policy/guidance? Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 06:51, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Shhhnotsoloud: I presume you understand that WP:REDLINK is an editing guideline, not a policy, right? But within it, you should also review WP:REDNOT. Is this article really "likely to be created and retained" here?
Also see WP:REDBLUE. We do discourage folks from willy-nilly creating redlinks all over the project. But you also omitted the last part of my explanation. As the essay explained -and as I also said - "But you may begin the article as a stub yourself." So if you feel strongly about this show having its own article, then you can and should still create it yourself. Don't wait for someone else to do it for you. Might never get done. X4n6 (talk) 07:19, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@X4n6: Of course I'm aware that WP:REDLINK is an editing guideline, and I followed it. I redlinked a thing that is verifiable, notable, and, if created as an article, is about as likely to be retained as all the other links in its vicinity in the article. My action is in accordance with guidelines. Your reversion, based on "how we do it" and "we do discourage", isn't. And I hadn't seen WP:REDBLUE: it's an essay (which amounts to an opinion), not linked from any guideline or policy, with page views in the noise. I don't feel strongly about this show having its own article (I came here as a result of tidying Return of the Mac (disambiguation)) not as a Joey fan; I do feel strongly about my edits being reverted without reference to a specific non-compliance of policy or guidance, because doing so amounts to no more than your opinion counting more than mine. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 07:38, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Shhhnotsoloud: Editors also remove redlinks as cleanup from inexperienced users who link to articles that don't exist. You asked why I reverted you and I told you. Just as, for the 3rd and final time, I'll tell you, per WP:FIXIT, to create the article if you feel there should be one. But if all you're vexed about is because your redlink got reverted? On Wikipedia?? Seriously?! Then you're in the wrong place. X4n6 (talk) 08:21, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
