Draft talk:John Kessler, Chronicler of Early American Naval History Hi Mr. Vanitas. Detailed historians that have written extensively about this topic, such as Tim McGrath, differentiate between Privateer Sea Service, and Continental Navy. I would like to propose to retain text partitioned with the following outline. CONTENTS 1. Early Life 2. Privateer Seaman on the Brig. Delaware under Captain John Barry and Lieutenant James Collins (1779 to 1780) 3. Midshipman and Master's Mate in the Continental Navy on the Frigate Alliance under Captain John Barry (1780 to 1783) 4. Chronicler of Early American Naval History 5. Distinguished Philadelphia Citizen (1793 to 1840) 6. Epilogue 7. References
I propose the following lead in sentence along the line that you requested: A teenager, John Kessler (September 21, 1761 to March 17, 1840) volunteered for military service at the outset of the American Revolution. His combat sea service produced valued records used by historians and biographers to define early American naval history and Captain John Barry's courageous naval leadership and service securing America's independence from the British.
I could use a short phone call with you on citing references the way that you wish. If this is possible, please use either my home phone (562-424-8052) or cell phone (310-963-8750). Thanks for your assistance. Bill Kessler JBandJohnK (talk) 03:50, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
