The result of the move request was: no consensus to move. No apparent agreement that "missionary" requires further disambiguation Number 57 21:09, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

John Smith (missionary)John Smith (missionary, born 1790)WP:PRECISE -- this is insufficiently precise to determine the topic of the article. There are multiple missionaries named John Smith, and being a missionary is common in Mormonism -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 05:51, 18 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support as per nom. GregKaye 12:53, 18 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak oppose Who else at John Smith might you expect to have this title? Precisely because missionary work is so commonplace in the LDS church, I wouldn't expect to see biographies of them with such a disambiguator. Mitt Romney (missionary)? Thomas Monson (missionary)? Given WP:TITLECHANGES, this seems like a solution in search of a problem. --BDD (talk) 16:53, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • The preacher that founded the motorcycle club mission is obviously a missionary, evangelizing to outlaw bikers. And because it is so common in the LDS church, "missionary" cannot be used alone. -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 04:03, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
An evangelist and a missionary are not the same. And my point is that because so many LDS members are missionaries, it's rarely a defining characteristic of them, suitable for disambiguation. --BDD (talk) 20:48, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
He goes forth amongst the outlaw bikers to preach about god, that being his mission, so is a missionary, the same as the LDS members preaching to the gentiles, and unlike megachurch pastors who preach to the faithful while using TV shows to evangelize to the masses. As LDS members frequently become missionaries, the term "missionary" is therefore ambiguous when LDS members are part of the topics to be disambiguated against, so needing additional disambiguation. -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 00:18, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
