Hello! I've trimmed the number of external links at the end of this article for a variety of reasons (summarized below) but mainly because we aim to have a minimal number of external links in our encyclopedia articles. Our guideline on this topic is WP:EL, and I'd suggest skimming Wikipedia:External_links#Important_points_to_remember. For an idea of what's normal, see other scientist biographies on Wikipedia (e.g. Anthony S. Fauci, Nancy Andrews (biologist), Arturo Casadevall). I appreciate your ongoing interest (I'm assuming the multiple edits from non logged-in users at Duke University are one person, but you know what happens when I assume...) in the topic but it would be far more helpful to the encyclopedia if you'd use your time to find new sources and add content about Heitman's life and research rather than endlessly inserting citations to his papers and external links that discuss him. Alternatively, if you (singular or plural) have some close association with Heitman, you may find this a frustrating topic to edit. Please see my talk page posts at User_talk:Mcspalmer and User talk:2620:0:691:B357:5445:7E2E:AFB3:40BC on the topic. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to bring them up on this talk page. Cheers (also explanation for link removals below):

  1. We generally avoid links to pages that exist to sell products (as the two Amazon links for his books do). If sources mention his books as important, we can cover them in the text of the article (e.g. Albert L. Lehninger). For more see Wikipedia:External_links#Links_normally_to_be_avoided
  2. The Duke News link about the Edward Novitski Prize and the Cornell Med link cover material already in the article. See WP:LINKSTOAVOID #1.
  3. The Broad link and Duke Today link are basically just press releases for one paper each. If we included these for each of Heitman's papers we'd have a massive list of basically useless links. The proper place to link to press releases about papers is Heitman's Duke faculty page.
  4. The two Fungal Kingdom links - I've added the material to the article with one of the links as a source.
  5. The two Wikipedia links - Now linked in the article
  6. The many YouTube links. We don't need links to every time he spoke on YouTube. I condensed them to two. We usually avoid leaving several links to different pages on a given website. See Wikipedia:External_links#Important_points_to_remember #4.

I hope that helps clarify my edits. If you have questions or concerns, please bring them up here or (if you're tired of hearing from me) ask at WP:TEAHOUSE. Happy editing. Ajpolino (talk) 15:57, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
