Tone of article

[edit]

I'm a Houston resident for over 20 years. I have no particular criticism to make of the station, but it seems to me that the Wiki page is not very much like an encylopedia; instead, it reads as if it was written by the station's own PR staff.

I edited the KHOU progamming section, as I've been informed by a local Houstonian who's very knowlegable of each of the major Houston TV stations that Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! both premiered on KPRC, as opposed to KHOU, as the article originally claimed. Fair use rationale for Image:Khou2006.PNG

[edit]

Image:Khou2006.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The Price is Right preempted in 1980-1982

[edit]

I heard on YouTube that KHOU stopped airing The Price is Right from 1980 to 1982. I may be wrong, but if this is true, this should be mentioned in the article.--70.240.233.234 (talk) 23:52, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Chris[reply]

It's "KHOU-TV", not "KHOU (TV)"

[edit]

According to KHOU-TV's website, it's "KHOU-TV".--It's my Junior year in High School! 00:14, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Chris[reply]

The name of the licensee is KHOU-TV Inc. but the call sign is actually

KHOU without any suffix. 99.21.160.184 (talk) 01:50, 15 October 2010 (UTC)Enda Sue[reply]

Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material

[edit]

Hello, Please do not add unreferenced or improperly referenced names as entries to the list of former employees in the article. Not including this type of material in articles abides by current consensus and is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:

  1. WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
  2. As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
  3. WP:NLIST tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
  4. Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.

If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). thanks Deconstructhis (talk) 14:44, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced, trivia and such

[edit]

This edit removes material about another station (not the topic of the article). It is unsourced. It claims the other station's regular schedule was "notorious".

This edit removes a vague claim: "One of" could be the top 2 or top 25, "top rated" compared to other networks in the market or other CBS affiliates in the state and is that by absolute number of viewers (during network programing or throughout the broadcast day?) or in terms of market share? It is also unsourced and gives a vague (promotionally worded) time frame for a factual claim.

This edit removes a random selection of shows from the stations schedule. lWikipedia is not TV Guide. It also makes the unsourced promotional claim that this is a "strong" lineup and the shows are "popular" and "aide" the station's ratings.

This edit removes the parade's former name. Actually, the station's one day a year airing is trivial and should be removed all together, but I'm trying to take this a bit more slowly than I'd like to.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. This article should be informative but not include substantial amounts of trivia and promotional material. Material about the station should not come from the station or out of thin air. It should cite independent reliable sources discussing the station. Material that does not conform to this can be removed by any editor at any time. If you disagree with a change, a blanket revert with a vague claim that I should "do (my) research" is not helpful. - SummerPhD (talk) 12:54, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on KHOU. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
