I put together a short article for the long-running meteorologist. I'm thinking having the article linked would be good. Maybe as a "See also" item? I dunno. It's late. That's why I'm just putting it out there. E_dog95' Hi ' 09:17, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Transmitter tower history[edit]

Perhaps the article could mention that the transmitter has moved around. I remember in the late 1960s it was located on Fremont Peak, and then it was moved to Mount Madonna (37°03′28″N 121°46′34″W / 37.05778°N 121.77611°W / 37.05778; -121.77611) on the Santa Clara/Santa Cruz county line sometime in the 1970s, where they built a 1572-foot tower. The Mount Madonna facility was shut down on Wednesday, June 7, 2000, when the transmitter was moved back to Fremont Peak and the present 401-foot tower. The Mount Madonna tower is apparently still standing, and its nighttime anti-collision lights still work, but I don't know if any broadcaster is currently using it. I don't know what the history was prior to the late 1960s. —QuicksilverT @ 23:09, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The massive Mount Madonna tower (Antenna Structure Registration 1018359) is now owned by the Mount Madonna Tower Association. The major tenant is a WISP, ethericnetworks.com. But there IS a missing KSBW story; why they built it, how much it cost, and why they soon abandoned it. 166.84.1.2 (talk) 05:13, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

KSBW, as well KVEC/KSBY and KEYT were broadcasting in parts of the San Joaquin Valley. KSBW briefly had a transmitter K72AK in Yosemite National Park in Merced and Mariposa counties, not far from Stockton with KXTV (CBS now ABC) and KOVR (switched affiliates in the 1990s). From the Central Coast (San Luis Obispo area), KSBY had K11FU in Fresno-Tulare counties as well in Bakersfield, and KCOY (CBS) and KEYT (ABC) was received in western Kern county in the southern ends of the valley. KMPH (Fox) from Tulare-Fresno (also broadcasts in Bakersfield) and KTXL (Fox) from Stockton-Sacramento (also broadcasts in the Sierra Nevadas) had transmitters in Merced, which had a NBC transmitter itself in the valley from KSBW, or at times, KMJ/KSEE from Fresno and KCRA from Sacramento. And KERO (ABC, CBS and NBC in its history) from Bakersfield can reach into southern Fresno county, but Kern county has KGET and KBAK (they had affiliate switches). 67.49.85.100 (talk) 05:55, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

KSBW and KCRA: No Sports Anchor?[edit]

I want to know what year did KSBW had the weekend anchor doing the sports segment (specify the date). With the exception of a weekend sports anchor covering special sports segments on weekends, I have noticed that the station only has the weekend news anchor act as the weekend sports anchor. The same goes for the KCRA article; that article only list the sports director and no other replacement anchors. I was wondering if those two have experienced budget cuts in which the weekend sports anchor became vacant. Debut of "Central Coast ABC" - New Article?[edit]

I do plan to put part of KSBW's article into another article called KSBW-DT2, which the new channel debuts in April.[1] However, I am proposing the following to be added into the article:

  • Images/Infobox: There is an image of the official logo of "Central Coast ABC" shown on the link above. I plan to have an experienced user add the logo into the infobox, while I start the article and add the history of KSBW-DT2 from the KSBW article. I currently do not add any logos in the article, which constitutes a violation. (The history of KSBW-DT2 from the KSBW article will be shortened gradually.)
  • On-Air Staff: I plan to add only a brief summary of the anchors.
  • Syndicated Shows: I plan to confirm the following syndicated shows as confirmed on the link above.
  • References: I plan to add references, but there may be lack of references in any of the subsections. I do plan to post whenever additional references are needed.

Those are some of what I am uncertain of, but if there is any more things uncertain, please comment in this talk page as soon as possible. CHAK 001 04:44, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

NOTES: As of April 2, 2011; May Need Improvement[edit]

In regards to the ABC affiliation, the following are noted as I observed it:

  • As seen on an HDTV, I saw that KSBW's second digital subchannel broadcasts in 1080i, not 720p like most ABC stations. The main channel (8.1) continues to broadcast in HD as of April 2, 2011.
  • The transmission of KSBW-DT2 in HD began on April 1, 2011. In other articles of Wikipedia that I have read, I have ensured that the written part(s) match the relevant articles.
  • The relevant articles that mentions 1080i, Hearst Television, and ABC are to be updated that will also mention KSBW. A new article entitled KSBW-DT2 is currently in the works. If there are any improvements that anyone likes to make BEFORE the launch date, please comment here as soon as possible.

Hopefully, there is someone that can help with the article. CHAK 001 (talk) 10:55, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
