Which language is this: "To the Roman Curia, Karl maintained usually good relations, therefore that could do. In 1376 a vacant place became an ore diocese in Durrës, again with a Latin Bishop to be occupied." written in? What does it mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.245.110.18 (talk) 22:00, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Karl or Charles?

[edit]

I have seen secondary English language sources which refer to him as Charles Thopia. What is the most common name? Surtsicna (talk)

It's a transliteration of the Albanian Karl. It should be Karl, but could you please bring the sources on Charles? --Sulmues Let's talk 14:38, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It should only be Karl if a majority of reliable English language sources refer to him as Karl, not because Karl is an Albanian transliteration. It seems to me that there are more English language sources which call him Charles[1] than those that call him Karl[2] (many of those are in German). Notable ones that refer to him as Charles are:

Although it's not the best argument around Karl gives 5 times as much results as Charles in Google Books.
