Don't Delete

[edit]

Kazi Shamsul Hoque, who has coorageous role all along. He is a journalist of our struggle for democracy before liberation. He has bravery role then as well as even recent time of illegal power graver in Bangladesh. See his career althrough. Without knowing an experienced brilliant journalist don't make uncalled for comment in favour of deleting.

Kazi is well known senior journalist & editor. Don't delete him just because of same person posted it for whom after you are now running. Be credible. Because you are a controversial man from opposite camp for that credibility of yours is urgently necessary & by not deleting all those you may prove that.

Don't delete Kazi as he has all along good writings, fame as good editor, long time experience in the field of journalism and even in the diaspara society of New York, where he is continuing publishing newspaper weekly Akhon Samoy, where newspaper like Thikana, Bangali, Bangla Patrika etc also have to fight.

Don't delete Kazi Shamsul because he has notable things mentioned in the page what many wiki personalities do not have same. Before using tag for deleting him you must have taken his all activities into cognigence. Forget about likings- dislikings & be impartial while editing, deleting & using tag. Being Bangladeshi you should not kill Bangladeshis ruthlessly like this.

Don't delete Kazi, as he has published many historic news as well as stories behind stories including on 1/11 phenomenon of Bangladesh recently, which will help researchers immensely. So taking all this in your account keep him strongly in wiki & not to delete. Thanks. --(Brokenbangladesh (talk) 20:30, 4 December 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that Kazi Shamsul Hoque be merged into Akhon Samoy, an article about the small ethnic weekly newspaper he edits. Soon after creation, the Hoque article was proposed for deletion because: "Non notable journalist. Notability not established through reliable third party sources." The PROD was contested. Another editor tagged it for notability, and later it was tagged with refimprove. In six years no sources have been found to improve referencing or demonstrate notability.

Searches of the usual Google types, EBSCO, Gale, Highbeam, JSTOR, and ProQuest, including by his name in Bengali script, found three types of sources:

  1. The New York Times' two-sentence quote of Hoque, cited in the article, and a similar two-sentence quote in The New York Times' cityroom blog.[1]
  2. Passing mention of him being in attendance at one meeting or another.[2][3][4][5]
  3. A brief announcement in several other New York Bengali news sources (reliable?) asking that readers pray for their colleague/competitor before he went in for heart surgery.[6][7][8][9]

These trivial mentions do not add up to significant coverage of him, so per WP:GNG he is not a suitable topic for a stand-alone article.

The verifiable facts that he is editor of the small ethnic weekly Akhon Samoy and is a former president of the America-Bangladesh Press Club in New York could easily be mentioned in the article about the newspaper, an article that would benefit from any sourced expansion. --Worldbruce (talk) 06:11, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree to the merger proposal. The notability of this person was and still is questionable. --Ragib (talk) 16:41, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
