I'm pretty sure at least part of the section south of Keikyu-Kurihama was originally built as a JR freight line, then taken over by Keikyu after the war. There is an abandoned ROW connecting the Yokosuka terminus at Kurihama with the Keikyu main line, and Kurihama seems an odd terminus when you consider that the Yokosuka line was freight-only for some time before the passenger services commenced.
