12 string guitar?

[edit]

From the entry: " At some time, he learned to play a twelve-string guitar. DuBrow was raised Jewish and had the nickname "Butch" growing up."

I don't understand why his learning to play a 12 string guitar is germane unless he performed with it in public, especially since the article fails to mention when he learned and how long he played. Did it influence his career? Also, that he was Jewish and had a nickname are irrelevant to the article. Rissa, copy editor (talk) 02:07, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

prank phone calls

[edit]

From the entry: "DuBrow was a prank caller, and would often make break through emergency phone calls to friends whose phone lines were busy using the name Steve Marriott, only to tell them something ridiculous."

This would make an interesting story for a magazine article but I don't think it has any reason to be here. An encyclopedia entry is supposed to contain just the facts that are relevant to the person's life. Rissa, copy editor (talk) 02:25, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, when I read this paragraph I was sort of surprised as well. It's an amusing factoid I guess, but it doesn't feel like it's worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. Chillowack (talk) 02:19, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Keeping the death date as November 19, 2007

[edit]

Although nobody can be sure he died on that exact day, I think it makes more sense to use that day as the date of death as it is known friends were unable to contact him for about a week before his discovery on the 25th. Implying that he definitely died on the 25th is about as good as saying Layne Staley died on April 19, 2002, when it was well established he had been dead for as long as two weeks before that date. Just my two cents. Vicious Friendly Fish (talk) 12:09, 23 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
