Reversion of copyrighted edits

[edit]

I have reverted the deletion of my copyrighted edits to this article as no consensus was reached for doing so. Thanks. Picomtn (talk) 20:39, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by copyrighted edits? Do you mean that since you wrote it, nobody can change it? Not sure I understand what you are saying here. Your edits are not protected by personal copyright, as when you edit on Wikipedia you release any personal copyright to Wikipedia itself. Are you new here? Please read WP:OWN.HappyValleyEditor (talk) 20:40, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @HappyValleyEditor: I thought you knew that the text of Wikipedia is copyrighted by Wikipedia editors. Thanks. Picomtn (talk) 20:48, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously you are new editor here. When you edit Wikipedia, you give up any ability to assert a personal copyright claim over something you have written here. When you made your user account, or when you clicked "save", you agreed to abide by the principle that the things you wrote would be licensed to others to edit and use. One the page you link to above it says just that: "Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify Wikipedia's text under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License". Please read WP:OWN, as I have warned you to do on your talk page. Asserting personal copyright is very bad etiquette. Nobody owns this material and everyone can edit it. Reverting edits on that basis is also very bad. Please learn the basic policies before you revert the good work of others. HappyValleyEditor (talk) 20:50, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note I believe @Checkingfax: cleared this respectful disagreement up by stating

Hi, Picomtn and HappyValleyEditor. You are both off the mark, but well intended. Picomtn does maintain a copyright to all their edits, but Picomtn allows those edits to be mangled. Picomtn also allows reuse as long as there is attribution. As for nominating articles for deletion, WP:ATD and WP:BEFORE are policies that must be followed before an article can be nominated for deletion. Failure to follow those policies would be a bright line ... policy violation. Cheers!

"Exhibits"

[edit]

Fouetté rond de jambe en tournant, every exhibit listed needs a venue and a date. There are no exhibits mentioned (much less venue or date) in the citations that were provided for these two, so I have removed them:

*"SEED (The Book of Eve)"[1]

  • "We Wear the Mask"[2]

Please do not continue to replace contested uncited information or information whose "citations" do not substantiate. Thank you. Softlavender (talk) 15:10, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I did not continue to do anything. The tag you placed said not in citation when in fact the info was in the cited source. So one time, I replaced the reference. Please point me to the WP policy page that states a venue and date are required to be in the reference. Thanks for your help! Fouetté rond de jambe en tournant (talk) 15:23, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You replaced "We Wear the Mask", which has no substantiation of any exhibit in the citation given. Please don't replace that (or any listing that section) again unless you can provide a citation that mentions an actual exhibit with a venue (gallery) and date. There is no mention whatsoever of the word "exhibit" or "exhibition" in the citation provided. Softlavender (talk) 15:36, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

More sources

[edit]

This may be a useful source: [1]. -- Softlavender (talk) 17:28, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That source uses "I" and "my" continuously. HappyValleyEditor (talk) 17:29, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Softlavender: That was an excellent link I was able to use to expand the early life section of this article, and would appreciate your view(s) on same. Thanks. Picomtn (talk) 11:41, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Softlavender: Thank you so much (!!!) for these references, all of which I've used in this article and would greatly apprecited your review of same. Thanks. Picomtn (talk) 19:13, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't have the time, nor do I expect to anytime soon. Softlavender (talk) 02:40, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bio box, etc.

[edit]

Hi @Checkingfax: and @Softlavender: Can either/or both of you kindly assist me with creating one of those bio-box things (with a photograph) of this artices subject? I, also, believe it would be nice to include in the article some photo examples of her artwork. Thanks. Picomtn (talk) 19:33, 29 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Picomtn, do you know of any properly licensed photos of the author that can be used? I searched Commons and Flickr but were unable to source any. Ckoerner (talk) 21:30, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Picomtn, there are no fair-use photos of the artist or her art available to upload to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons. For a fair-use photo of her you would have to contact her and have her photographer sign to CC-SA or public domain a photo of her. For her art you would need to contact her and ask her to sign to the public domain an image of her art. For this level/size of an article I don't think either is necessary nor do I think it would be worth the trouble. Softlavender (talk) 10:47, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
