Spelling
[edit]Why was the name in this article spelled contrary to all the cited sources? Gene Nygaard (talk) 15:27, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- I see your reason for moving was 'revert unreferenced, undiscussed move, contrary to the cited sources, falsely claiming it was based on "naming conventions"'. However, if you look at my move [1] you'll see the naming convention I was referring to, was the disambiguation "(Artist)" to "(artist)" so my claims weren't "false" (and didn't require a discussion or a source) and you haven't, technically-speaking, reverted it.
- The issue on the actual name is a separate one to my move - it was the name when the article was created (so you are the one who changed the actual name of the article without discussing it). On that issue the links aren't very helpful one way or the other on this specific issue, as there isn't much at his "official site" and it is possible the others drop the accents as a matter of convention or they didn't know better. Worth noting that all the people of the same name have an accent: Leandro Fernández. Also, when I searched DC's site I found that they do indeed list him as Leandro Fernández. So, it looks to me like this article should be at Leandro Fernández (artist) and this name should redirect there. (Emperor (talk) 16:26, 25 November 2008 (UTC))
- We need to go by what's here; and even if your searched DC's site, something not in evidence on the page, were here, it at best indicated mixed usage, spelling it Fernandez a couple of times, and Fernández a couple of times. There would, from that, be no reason whatsoever to believe that Fernández is somehow more correct. It may well indicate variations over time; and the current "official" site spells it the current way, Fernandez. Gene Nygaard (talk) 21:53, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- And as it is easy to drop the accent I think the fact that it is used at all is significant. (Emperor (talk) 00:17, 26 November 2008 (UTC))
