King Tut

The article states: King Tut is a supervillain in the DC universe based on the character of the same name from the television series Batman. The character, created by Christina Weir, Nunzio DeFilippis, and José Luis García-López, first appeared in Batman Confidential #26 (April 2009).

Given that the character was in the TV Series in the 1960s, how can it be claimed that it was "created by" Weir et al in 2009? Surely "adapted" or at best "re-created"? 86.7.30.217 (talk) 15:08, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Fair point. - J Greb (talk) 00:01, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
I've changed this to read "adapted by" and "first appeared in the DC Universe". Also the same for Chief O'Hara. 86.7.30.217 (talk) 09:03, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Plastique

The same thing happened to when Typhoon was redirected to here yet no section for him is put up. Rtkat3 (talk) 8:12, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Brimstone in other media

The section following section has been removed:

A giant nuclear-powered robot with the same appearance and powers appeared in the episode "Initiation" of the animated series Justice League Unlimited. This version of Brimstone is created by the Chinese as a defense against foreign powers, but goes on a rampage through the Chinese countryside. Green Arrow, Captain Atom, and Supergirl work together to defeat it by firing a dampening rod into its nuclear core.

Partially it's mainly plot. Mostly it's unsourced speculation as to what the DCAU character was based on.

Adding it back is going to need a cite to a reliable, secondary source that the episode's writers and producers used Brimstone as the bases for the robot.

Images?

Hi,

Is there a way to put images in this list? I think that Wikipedia doesn't allow it as it is now, but, can we change it in any way so we can add them?

I undestand that they are minor characters but the best way to remember and recognize them is using an image.

Some of the deleted and redirected articles had images, so we can put them here (after the change I'm asking about).

Thanks! Arussom (talk) 13:40, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Since the guideline about it is right here. Perhaps you want to discuss it in the guideline page. Also I understand you're concern though (I personally didn't want the Fiddler image to go when I boldly merged it) although if we already have external links to other wikis (such as Wikia) and other encyclopedias already listed I think it might be a little redundant. Jhenderson 777 19:44, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Also I don't think it will look right without bringing infoboxes in the equation personally. Jhenderson 777 19:47, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi wouldn't have problem in using an infobox... But the problem persists: we cannot use images here... Can we change the "type" of article to another one that can use images? Do you have any ideas?
Thanks Arussom (talk) 21:00, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
I don't have many ideas. My only idea is that you can do is look for an image of the character on DC's main website and use that image as a external image. Jhenderson 777 22:36, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

AFD's consensus was never deleted

I just went ahead and noticed that a lot of these AFD's that did not end with a consensus but with a administrator's opinion on said subject. Most likely a mergist. Since the consensus was more a keep for some of them I really feel like contesting some of them. Although I want to know you're opinion on that. Tattooed Man I feel strongly about merged. Thinker is another maybe one. Jhenderson 777 19:11, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

I think the unsigned username is trying to say is that he would like their pages restored. Rtkat3 (talk) 8:14, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Wait? These were merged too. Goodness. Somebody was busy. I am starting to think this article is more on merging mid important DC characters than low important DC characters Jhenderson 777 19:22, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

What the heck is this?

Who authorized this? Is wikipedia basterdizing more articles because an admin got bored again instead of going through consensus?Kelzorro (talk) 07:31, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

I got curious about this myself when I noticed all the minority character pages disappearing. And more specifically pages I had created. I guess he thought no one was paying attention? --Xero (talk) 21:51, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
No... and I resent the innuendo that articles are targeted because of your fingerprints.
Long and the short of it: Articles that are sans real world context, relatively short, and/or cover a character with very limited use were being merged in. A suggestion elsewhere was made that "minor" is subjective so similar compressed sections be added for the articles on characters that are longer, are more than just plot, and/or have some sense of notability presented as "see also" headers. Frankly, that has a good deal of merit.
- J Greb (talk) 22:08, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
There are twenty-seven entries on that page, I was primary editor on five of them, three I created and the other two I rebuilt. How was I not supposed to think something weird was going on? --Xero (talk) 22:24, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Ask with out the rider "And more specifically pages I had created." would be a start. It would allow for a less awkward start.
- J Greb (talk) 22:46, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
This is something that has been discussed many times as it is common practice in Wikipedia for articles that don't meet notability - that way information is preserved rather than lost when someone gets around to deleting the page. Just type "list of minor" into the search box and you get Buffy, Star Wars, 24, etc. (I've largely worked in List of minor Judge Dredd characters) so you can see this is widely done and is supported by various guidelines. It has come up numerous times in the Comics Project, so a while back I started a page in my sandbox to identify characters for merging: User:Emperor/Sandbox/Minor characters (see also the links to previous discussion there), although it is mainly focused on Marvel Comics characters (as there was a bit of a trend for starting articles on all characters, even if they only had 1 or 2 appearances) it also applies to DC, as well as other companies (but it is Marvel and DC that attract the most attention around here, so it makes sense to get those two houses in order first, so we have articles we can point people to which are good examples of what we are aiming at.
So this move is long overdue and gets my complete support. Sorry if anyone feels this is targeted at them but (as you can see from the previous discussion) this is a very broad, even Wikipedia-wide, move - it will only seem personal to those who have worked on articles for very minor characters (as I've done myself) but it isn't and, in fact, it would be far worse to see them deleted for lack of notability as all our hard work would be lost. This is the best possible solution (we can always split a section off again if the character gets a lot more attention) and those who work on the articles for very minor characters are just the kind of people we need to help in this venture as you are the most knowledgeable people on the topic. (Emperor (talk) 15:18, 5 June 2011 (UTC))
Why would we care if it has your complete support Emperor? It still seems targeted as Cal Durham, yet another minority character page that I specifically created has been folded into this one. It seems very targeted despite J Greb's protestations of innocence. Based on our past history I am no longer willing to give him the benefit of doubt here. --Xero (talk) 17:02, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
(sigh)
Would you prefer each and every plot only comic book character article be placed up for AfD. And those those of color or that you have touched be tagged with "User Xeno may be overly sensitive to this as 'targeted'"?
Is that why you are not complaining about the folding in of Tsunami? An article on another minority character that was at the exact same state as Cal Durham save it had been PRODed. A PROD based on failing WP:GNG and WP:PLOT.
Do you feel that the other 23 characters folded in over the past 2 months fit the pattern of targeting you see? Or don't they "count" for some reason?
And FWIW, there were another 10 character articles that popped up that are questionable:
All of them are plot heavy to the point of being plot only and none of them, even though some should be able to hands down, establish notability of the topic.
- J Greb (talk) 19:11, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

We should focus on lesser well known characters to be merged. Then characters that are more in the mid-important stage like one of the major enemies of Aquaman. At least let's start with stubs then start and C-Class articles. It's sad that they are still here but you all determine to merge and AFD a more well know character. Jhenderson 777 19:31, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

This and List of DC Comics characters?

Uh...what's the difference between this list article, and then List of DC Comics characters? They'd ideally seem to be the same thing, I think. Those with articles would simply be {{main}}'d, while others would have a description such as those on this page. || Tako (bother me) || 19:20, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

I think the List of DC Comics characters should be more like the List of Marvel Comics characters. That would help. Jhenderson 777 19:23, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I was just looking at Marvel's list - that would also render this list pointless, as it'd have the same content. I also took a look at List of minor Marvel Comics characters - looks like someone already merged the contents of that into Marvel's list, and left a pretty much contentless article... || Tako (bother me) || 19:28, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
Exactly. I noticed that a while back too. Why I mentioned it. Jhenderson 777 19:33, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Tattooed Man in B:BatB

The Tattooed Man appeared in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode with Star Sapphire. He seemed visibly irritated by Batman and Kyle's bickering while they were fighting him, calling their argument a "sewing circle". Which of the three T.M.s was he based on? --The_Iconoclast (talk) 14:30, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Elite

The result of this discussion was to Merge. With the exception of Menagerie (DC Comics), all the articles discussed have already been merged. I'll take care of Menagerie in a moment. NukeofEarl (talk) 15:08, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

Where should the articles about members of The Elite be merged? The first Menagerie (DC Comics) has appeared only in two issues of Action Comics (one was "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?", and the other a minor role in the "Ending Battle" story arc) The second Menagerie has appeared only in the 12 issues of Justice League Elite, published in 2004, and not once since. Coldcast has appeared in these three and in one issue of Justice League's comic book published between Ending Battle and Justice League Elite. Another article about a member of the team, Hat, has already been turned in a redirect. At last, there's Naif al-Sheikh, a character that appeared only in "Justice League Elite".

None of them are notable characters, and believe them all should be merged into this list.

Maddox (talk) 02:07, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Realistically? Merge the individual characters here with a basic background for each. Redirect the articles, or the current redirects here. And redirect the team article to List of teams and organizations in DC Comics. Ideally, that list can be expanded to give a brief backgrounds for the teams listed.

Suggested merge

It has been suggested that the poorly written and poorly sourced Polka-Dot Man article be merged with this one. The general idea is to list the small amount of information that the article contains onto this article, in the "P" section. For the full discussion and details, please see Talk:Polka-Dot Man#Merge article. Darkknight2149 (talk) 07:30, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Tiffany Fox

Has anyone thought about adding Tiffany Fox? The character was first introduced in Batman Volume 1 #308 and is the daughter of Lucius Fox. She was initially part of the Wayne Enterprises drug rehabilitation program, but was reimagined in the New 52 as just a child. She's also been adapted into Batman: The Enemy Within, portrayed by Valarie Rae Miller. I know it's not much info, but I think she's at least worth mentioning on this page.

Condiment King

Condiment King appears in issue #38 of "Harley Quinn". I had never heard of him, so I tried "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condiment_King" which redirected me to this article. However Condiment King is not mentioned in the article text. If he was deleted, I think he should be put back (or the redirect should be removed). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.202.33.17 (talk) 06:25, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

Agreed. Found the same upon arriving at this page after searching for the character.

Matches Malone

Hello, For Matches Malone here -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_minor_DC_Comics_characters#Matches_Malone his first appearance is given as Batman 588 (April, 2001) where it should be Batman 242 (June, 1972), no? --Danielvis08 (talk) 15:50, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

I don't think so. I think Matches Malone is an old alias of Batman (maybe even from the 40's) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bcent1234 (talkcontribs) 12:12, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
