Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on November 13, 2010.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the extended play Hits by The Beach Boys spent 34 weeks at number-one in the EP chart?

Isn't Single a misnomer for the Title of an EP?

[edit]

My understanding is that an EP (in all its forms) is classified separately from the types known as SP, LP and "Single" (differing at the very least in content length). I am supported in this by the opening sentences of both this article and the article on EP itself. So I think the label of the second column is wrong. "Single" is not the correct EP nomenclature for the column's data (despite its cited source). The column's contents are not "Singles" (from the EP or elsewhere[A] ). The column actually contains the Title of the EP.[B]

I wish to change one existing column header text from Single to Title or perhaps EP Title. What say ye all?

Notes

[edit]
  1. ^ A few of the entries in the list were checked to make sure this column didn't refer to one particular track, either on the EP or in a separate "Single" release.
  2. ^ The article Extended Play: Defining EP describes the Title of an EP this way: "Although they could be named after a lead track, they were generally given a different title."
