The notion of a sovereign state arises in the 16th century with the development of modern diplomacy. For earlier times, the term "sovereign state" is an anachronism. [...] This is a list of sovereign states that existed between 100 BC and 1 BC.

So the topic of this page is an anachronism, and the article readily admits that. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 06:28, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree sovereign state should not be used the list was changed from list of states that existed between 100 BC and 1 BC that term is much broader and deals with both the time frame of the list and state types as covered here and here.--Navops47 (talk) 03:25, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Flags & Locations

[edit]
@Aryamanarora: I think changing the "location" data as you are doing is a mistake.
1. People do know necessarily where these places (Chad, Cameroon) are, where they typically would know about where "Africa: Central" is.
2. We do not always know the borders of these entities from long ago, and these borders should also have citations when not totally clear.
3. Even if somewhat clear, there would be no standard way to know in advance which modern nation is listed first, and so (for this and other reasons) you can not finding things well with a "location" table-sort.
4. Every time the (short form) name of a modern nation change, or its borders change, we would have to find and change all the affected political entities on pages like this.
5. There are other things we already ought to be going first with these pages, like adding more citations for the current info. tahc chat 15:31, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, I understand now. Sorry. Aryamanarora (talk) 17:50, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
