Needs help!

[edit]

I gave this a better name, but it still needs help. I tried to flesh out the Montreal-area stuff, but the format isn't really working. Should probably be re-organized to have as the first column the City or Metro area, then the individual railway. Montreal, for instance, had other street railways that aren't mentioned at all but probably should be. Likely the same is true for other areas (Toronto particularly). Calgary and Edmonton are listed so that it appears that the modern systems are continuations of the old lines - surely not true. Help! --plaws (talk) 19:57, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I know you. I see no one ever added the Montreal Island Belt Line Railway (which became the Montreal Terminal Railway) or the Montreal Park & Island Railway. Sure, they were all subsumed by the Tramways Co, but they were stand-alone companies that operated service on their own track. --plaws (talk) 14:54, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tables should be "sortable", and dates should be in Canadian yyyy-mm-dd format

[edit]

Canadian yyyy-mm-dd date format has the huge advantage over other formats in that it sorts sensibly. It would be useful if these table were sortable, so we could sort on dates. Geo Swan (talk) 22:01, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Some radial lines are listed, others aren't

[edit]

Some radial lines are listed, others aren't. In particular the following systems are listed:

  1. Berlin & Bridgeport Electric Street Railway Company
  2. Berlin and Waterloo Street Railway Company
  3. Hamilton Street Railway Company -- had (at least one) radial route, extending along the north shore of Lake Ontario, that was to join up with the Toronto and Mimico Electric Railway and Light Company.

The Guelph Radial Railway Company has radial right in the title.

Among the radial lines not listed here:

  1. Niagara, Welland and Lake Erie Railway
  2. Galt, Preston and Hespeler Street Railway
  3. Preston and Berlin Street Railway

Personally, I think radial line merit mention here. Alternatively, radial lines should be removed from the list.
