Due to Poeloq recent question whenever we could source this statement "At 9'8" (approx 2.95m) these are Britains' widest trains.", I have modified this statement to say "At 9'7" (approx 2.95m) these are London Underground's widest trains." and have added a reference. Surely these would be the oldest trains in uses on the underground, being built in 1960, so why does the Victoria line page say that the 1967 stock is the oldest?

The Victoria line stock is the oldest deep-level tube stock (as opposed to surface stock). The 1967 stock page is thus accurate. However, you are correct in that the A60 stock is the oldest in use. Cig1705 14:49, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Width[edit]

Entry into service date[edit]

I was alerted off-wiki[1] to repeated attempts to introduce a factual error into this article, namely that the trains entered service on 31 August 1959 rather than 12 June 1961. I've added three reliable sources (well two of them are different editions of the first) that support the later date. It is speculated that the anonymous editor responsible, 86.161.14.162, will continue to attempt to introduce the inaccuracy into the article so editors should look out for that. Terminology[edit]

I hope that my terminology from my Flickr set should clear things up:

  • Set No. 0 = Two Cars: a driving motor (5000) and trailer car (6000) permanently coupled to each other.
  • Unit = Four Cars or Two Sets.
  • Train = Eight Cars, Four Sets or Two Units.
  • A6x = A60 and A62 Stock
