Year it began?
[edit]"It first appeared in the Williamsburg paper Waterfront Week; by 1994 it had moved to the New York Press." This makes little sense without the reference of the year the strip began as an anchoring point. Someone please find and insert this year, thank you very much.
The first appearance of Drinky Crow was in a single folded bar newsletter called Hijinx Magazine, photocopied by Scott Riley at a bar called 612 in the freezing icy Brooklyn winter of February/March 1993. I was paid with beer. I was financially extremely poor.
Maakies first appeared in February of 1994 in the New York Press.
The strip in Waterfront Week was called "Medea's Weekend" and never included Drinky Crow or Uncle Gabby. It was good training for me, I did it for about a year and a half. It was sometimes good and frequently very bad. I got $10 a week for it, but only when I could track down the tall transvestite "Medea" in a local Williamsburgh bar, usually The Ship's Mast.

They Might Be Giants relationship
[edit]Along with the animated short in Gigantic (A Tale of Two Johns) that I noted in the animation segment, Millionaire has also sold Drink Crow shotglasses and a coffee mug through They Might Be Giants' online store, as well as provided the artwork to Then: The Earlier Years. I cut this from what I added to the article; maybe someone can place it somewhere relevant: "Tony Millionaire also contibuted cover art to Then: The Earlier Years, while the They Might Be Giants online store sells a coffee mug with Millionaire artwork and previously sold a set of Drinky Crow shotglasses." --DoctorWorm7 05:59, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- And the new "Drinky Crow" series on Adult Swim has a theme song by They Might Be Giants. Yet another collaboration! —Down10 TACO 08:54, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
The Title
[edit]I think "Maakies" is a play on the Boston accent. "Mark" becomes "Maak".
Website down?
