"Re-animated Key Scenes"

[edit]

"In Macross Frontier, the latest series in the Macross universe, the first few episodes use re-animated key scenes from this film and Flash Back 2012 to give viewers glimpses of past events." - the 2007/2008 sequel *does not* reuse 25-year-old footage; the writer most likely meant that MacrossF has overt homage to this movie (and all the other sequels, frankly) in key scenes and sequences - Sheryl's concert footage is similar to Minmei's concert but obviously more modern in style, Ranka's midair rescue is similar to Hikaru's "Minmei catch", and so on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.149.107 (talk) 18:33, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: Upon further reflection and a quick re-viewing of some Macross Frontier episodes, the above quote seems to be referring to the prologue/introduction sequence that is used in the early episodes of MacrossF, which does appear to contain redrawn scenes from DYRL and Flashback 2012 (colony ships launching, Britai clutching Minmei while the rest of the cast look on - note that their faces are not shown); however, I think the above phrase still needs a rewrite for clarity. 69.121.149.107 (talk) 21:48, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Children's Film"

[edit]

The use of the word "children's" in this article implies that the movie (and the TV show that spawned it) was made for adults originally. Macross was already a "children's" series to begin with; it was created in Japan by Japanese companies for Japanese children. At the time (1984) however, culture differences (as well as differences in production standards) led to the film being amended the way it was for U.S. viewing (not just "children's viewing). For these reasons, I have amended those parts of the article accordingly.

DVD?

[edit]

Is this available anywhere other than Japan on DVD? Korea perhaps? There is a Hong Kong one, but it appears to be a bootleg. Hill of Beans 20:42, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's hard to find an uncut DVD version with English subs. I got lucky in finding one at WonderCon in San Francisco last year, which is likely a high quality bootleg. BrokenSphereMsg me 17:51, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i think this article should be separate from the video game. The good version of the movie is hard enough to find without merging it with another rare object. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.86.85.46 (talk) 05:45, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Law

[edit]

{{WikiProject Law}}

This may be added if this movie is really involved in a legal dispute of the releases and regarding the movie itself.

Official Title

[edit]

Has this had an official subbed release in English or not? Either way surely the correct title is "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?" because that is what it says on the DVD cover. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.104.110.110 (talk) 15:26, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Move to: The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?

[edit]

That is the official title, all official dvd releases show the full title. --Primus1x (talk) 18:26, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Also why is a colon needed? In all official releases, the smaller part of the title is "The Super Dimension Fortress" and the larger part is "Macross Do You Remember Love?" without any colons and the Japanese title doesn't have colons at all. --Primus1x (talk) 17:54, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Otaku no Video reference

[edit]

" It received a huge marketing campaign that generated very long lines of fans; many of them camped outside cinemas the night prior to the film. These events were dramatized in the anime comedy Otaku no Video from 1991"

In fact, the characters camp in the line in order to see Nausicaä, not Macross DYRL. The movie is discussed in that very scene though, as one of the characters has got access to earlier concept art for the movie. 2804:14D:5CDA:84DA:5890:9569:7E9E:CBED (talk) 23:13, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
