page needs some work[edit]

This page needs some work. Most of the text about the strip and its characters are copied from the comic strip's official website, as are the sketches. As it happens, I have copies of almost all of the books, and I might be able to make some contributions and edits. I'll see what can be done. --JohnDBuell | Talk 03:42, 25 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that as well and notified User:Dfantom in his talk page; verbatim descriptions could be at least borderline copyvio. He apparently tries to get permission for the sketches. (I do not have any of the books, but I do read the strip regularly). - Skysmith 09:04, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The way things are looking with my schedule for the rest of the week, I don't think I'll be able to really add anything until I get back from a short vacation to visit relatives this coming weekend, so hopefully I can contribute next week, the week of August 1st. --JohnDBuell | Talk 19:55, 26 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've fleshed out some of the background information for the creation of the comic strip. Aside from Rico, I really have no idea where to find good biographical information about the other two co-founders of the comic. References and Original Research[edit]

This article has no in-text references to verify its claims. Most of this article comes off as conjecture on the part of the author(s). Being able to verify claims would rectify this.

Furthermore sentences like this "Perhaps in the spirit of equality, neither character is portrayed as particularly sympathetic." are an example of both original research and an unverifiable claim. I agree. Where do the authors of the strip state that Madam represents white people or that Eve represents black people as the author of this wiki article suggests? It comes of as racist banter on the part of the author of the wiki article, racist in the sense that the author of the wiki article is attributing racialistic characteristics to characters who are not neccessarily always raced. Spirit of equality?? I mean really, is Eve's stand where she sells things for R10 representative of black people? Spirit of equality relates to people, not pseudo-racist symbolism the author of this wiki article is suggesting. But if that author has a problem with this argument, I suggest they find a reference for their claims and I will concede that I am reading too much into this. other characters[edit]

This article dosent feature the tokoloshes, the "little aliens" or abigail (ediths twin sister). however, it features the parktown prawns, which arent really characters. The "little aliens" come to earth and have to decide whether the south africans hav developed as a species, if not they will destroy them. The tokoloshes are small creatures from african folklore, they try to take the characters away at night if they dont have bricks under their beds.
