The archives of Casa Ricordi give her the hyphenated surname "Zenoni-Occhiena". However, I can find no reference whatsoever in any contemporary sources or cast lists to her or any other singer by that name nor as "Margherita Occhiena" or "Occhiena-Zenoni". The Ricordi year of birth as 1815 is also very suspect. It does not jibe with the course of her career or her obituaries which give her age at death in 1878 as 51. Her husband, Annibal Luis Gamboa, was born in 1830. It is possible but highly unlikely that he would marry a woman 15 years his senior. They were married in 1873 but had travelled together since at least 1867. There may also be some confusion of her with another opera singer from Northern Italy, Elena Zenoni, who was born in 1819 and graduated from the Milan Conservatory in 1837. In contemporary reviews, both are sometimes referred to simply as "La Zenoni" or "Signora Zenoni", but they had different repertoires. Voceditenore (talk) 09:27, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
